What is Soft Washing a house?

What is a soft wash, is a frequent customer question to residential house washing companies. In simple terms, soft washing is a safer, more effective way to clean the exterior surfaces on your house and other surfaces. Known best for the use of house washing, the method is also an ideal way to wash roofs, some sidewalk and driveway surfaces, decks, and hardscaping.

Traditional pressure washing techniques rely on extremely high pressures to blast dirt and grime from your property. This level of force can have unwanted effects. Some surfaces exposed to high-pressure washing can crack siding, cause leaks, dents, and other property damage.

Soft washing uses a low pressure to gently yet effectively remove dirt, mold, stains, and other debris from your surfaces. This method relies on powerful cleansers, top-tier equipment, and expert touch to achieve maximized results.

Another definition of Soft Washing.

This is a cleaning method using low pressure and specialized solutions (typically bleach, water, and sometimes a surfactant) to remove mildew, bacteria, algae safely, and other organic stains from roofs and other buildings’ exteriors. It is so named to differentiate the method from power washing. The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association recommends low-pressure bleach or detergent-assisted washing as the preferred method for cleaning asphalt roofs to prevent shingle damage.

Soft washing uses an electric agricultural sprayer to apply a water-based, biodegradable disinfecting cleaning solution to kill the mold, mildew, bacteria, algae, fungus, moss, and more on exterior home and building surfaces.

Soft washing equipment is distinctly different from power and pressure washing equipment. The electric diaphragm pump applies the cleaning solution at 40-80 PSI. Equipment used for soft washing may also have telescoping handles so that the cleaning solution can easily reach roof eaves, upper story windows, and other such areas, without this added pressure.
